[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Memorial Day Holiday is usually the long weekend we crave throughout the winter. It marks the prelude to Summer and all the beauty it brings.
In our wonderful oceanside community of Oxnard and the surrounding areas, it is usually a three day release from the trials of life. It’s a time to feel the cool Pacific wrapping around your ankles, to venture into the local mountains and find peace, to relax and forget about the real world.
This year, the world got too real.
We are all living through an unprecedented time of worry and wonder with this worldwide pandemic. We worry about our health and that of our loved ones. We wonder when this will be over and what will be the new normal.
Those feelings of fear are part of the human experience and many generations before us have lived similarly. Yet we remain as a people united in our strength, in one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
As we have learned from history, this too shall pass. A year from now, we will hopefully be in a place where our lives are restored and we can enjoy the company of our family and friends as we have in the past.
Still, this Memorial Day, while in our solitude we must remember that this day is for all those who put honor above home, freedom above family, sacrifice above sanctuary. It’s a day to honor those who chose to defend our Constitution, our freedom, and our liberty. They chose the Warrior’s Way, and paid the ultimate price.
They were members of our families and our friends. Some left us in wars of the last century and others left us not too long ago. It matters not when or where. All that matters is that they were patriots!
Memorial Day should be a day of reflection on the sacrifices that were made in the name of freedom. It is a time to mourn all of the men and women of our military that were lost. The brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces are true heroes of the republic. They are the warriors who held back the tide of tyranny and terrorism. They embodied the true bold spirit of our United States.
Honor them with the respect and dignity they deserve. Show your pride in these brave Americans, who gave their lives to protect our glorious republic.
Their patriotic spirit lives on in all of us!
So this Memorial Day, remember our heroes. Without them, we wouldn’t be living in the greatest nation on Earth.
Lest we forget.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
